Job Overview

Responsible for coordinating valuation related products related to commercial lending and ensuring that all commercial lending evaluation, appraisal validations, and 1-4 family appraisal reviews are in compliance with state and federal regulations, following company policies and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Work within a team to ensure that appraisals, appraisal reviews, evaluations, appraisal validations progress through the pipeline efficiently and effectively so that lender expectations are met.

Principle Accountabilities

Accurately complete internal evaluations, appraisal validations, supervised reviews on non-complex valuations, and appraisal reviews on 1-4 family properties used as collateral for commercial lending. Effectively manage the valuation pipeline and provide consultation and communications to team members. Assist in ordering, storing, and monitoring the status of third party valuations and reviews. Provide general assistance with department selected vendors, monitoring department mailboxes, and providing market reports and comparables as needed.

Accountable for adherence to compliance standards including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), quality of documentation, and timeliness of appraisal results. Actively protect the confidentiality of customer and account information. Demonstrate Horizon Bank's commitment to the communities in which we serve through active involvement in local organizations and events.

Duties

  • Complete internal evaluations on commercial property types throughout the banks footprint within a specified timeframe.
  • Complete validations of appraisal reports on commercial property types throughout the banks footprint within a specified timeframe.
  • Complete appraisal reviews on non-complex appraisals and 1-4 family appraisals throughout the banks footprint within a specified time frame.
  • Complete reviews on vendor provided external evaluations throughout the banks footprint within a specified timeframe.
  • Order external appraisal reviews and evaluations throughout the banks footprint within a specified time frame.
  • Provide appropriate consultation to advisors regarding appraisals, internal and external evaluations, appraisal reviews, appraisal validations, and department selected vendors.
  • Monitor department mailboxes and communicate as necessary with appraisers, vendors, credit analysts, loan processors, and lenders.
  • Complete file uploads and distribute completed appraisals, appraisal reviews, evaluations, and validations.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding department selected vendors to appraisers, credit analysts, loan processors, and lenders.
  • Provide real estate market information to credit analysts, loan processors, and lenders as needed.
  • Maintain the valuation department pipeline report and provide regularly schedule reports.
  • Report suspicious transactions or unusual occurrences to supervisor.
  • Participate in ongoing skill, compliance, product, market, risk management and security training as required for the position and apply knowledge in performance of daily tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications and Skills

  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting or Economics and 3 years relative experience, such as real estate sales or brokerage, loan underwriting, or lending operations.
  • Specialized knowledge of real estate theory, principles, terminology and collateral valuation methods is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and follow up skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats with customers, bank employees and outside service providers.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and a wide range of procedures requiring strong analytical skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to perform advanced mathematical computations using various business machines and/or computer programs.
  • Must have proficient typing and computer skills. Advanced Excel, Word, and internet research skills preferred and knowledge of Sharepoint would be helpful.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in new software.
